SECURITY DOGS DELIVER A ROBUST HIGH IMPACT AND HIGHLY VISIBLE PRESENCE

The role of our security dogs is to deliver a robust, high impact, highly visible presence.

Our highly trained General Purpose Security Dogs and their handlers form an integral part of a modern, effective security strategy. Designed for flexibility and impact, our dog units are capable of working safely and confidently across a wide range of environments—from construction sites and vacant properties to commercial premises and public events.

Every dog and handler team is trained to recognise and alert to potential threats, intruders, or suspicious behaviour. Their presence alone serves as a visible deterrent to criminals, while their quick response capabilities enable rapid intervention when needed.

Certified and Reliable Dog Security Units

At RDS, we’re proud to maintain the highest industry standards.

All our dog handlers are trained and certified to NASDU (National Association of Security Dog Users) or NTIPDU (National Training Inspectorate for Professional Dog Users) Level 2, with additional monthly in-house training and quarterly external assessments to ensure ongoing operational excellence.

Our general purpose security dogs are ideal for:

  • Patrolling perimeters and high-risk zones

  • Detecting unauthorised access or intrusion attempts

  • Providing rapid support during alarm activations

  • Supporting static guard teams on large or complex sites

  • Enhancing security at events, industrial estates, or transport depots

Each handler works closely with their dog, developing a deep mutual understanding that results in clear communication and heightened situational awareness.

This teamwork significantly improves response times and effectiveness when compared to solo manned guarding alone.

The presence of a security dog and handler team is generally sufficient to deter the majority of unauthorised trespassers or intruders!

Security Dog Unit, mobile response

Throughout each individual assignment, our handlers, whilst patrolling, will continually carry out visual risk assessments, while our dogs, through exceptional training and use of their superior senses of sight and smell allow for advanced warning of any possible danger or risk.

Therefore, you will have peace of mind knowing our dogs and handlers are capable of managing and safely resolving any incident on any site.

The presence of a security dog and handler team is generally sufficient to deter the majority of unauthorised trespassers or intruders.

However, should a breach occur then the handler would verbally challenge the reason for being on site, ask for the necessary identification and assess the validity of the reason given for being on site.

On the rare occasion an intruder persists or becomes hostile, then our handler will instruct the dog to show a precisely controlled level of aggression, demonstrating the deterrent necessary to restore the safe integrity of the site, before returning the dog to a calm state of active alertness.

In most cases, the situation is safely resolved with a minimal amount of disruption and where possible, without any physical contact between either handler, dog or intruder.
